2016 Year in Review

2016 was definitely a great year of golf and not a bad year for my blog either, with 26 posts it wasn’t exactly prolific, but I am happy with the refocus the blog has taken, from a personal experience perspective to a course review platform. I am hoping to continue along the same lines for 2017.

My year started down south with two rounds in Florida at Orange Lake Reserve and Highlands Reserve.

After a few more months waiting for the snow to melt I really got my golf season started out west with rounds at Red Deer Golf & Country Club, River Bend Golf Club and Wolf Creek Golf Resort in Central Alberta.

In addition to central Alberta I had the chance to tee it up in Winnipeg, MB this past season, getting in 18 at Breezy Bend Golf & Country Club.

Back home, I found some time to get in a few 9s with family at my home club, Metcalfe Golf & Country Club

On Father’s day I played a great track on Montreal’s south shore, Club de Golf La Prairie.

I played in a number of events this season, including the OVGA City & District, OVGA Intersectionals, a Golf Town Amateur Series event at eQuinelle, the Flagstick Open at eQuinelle and the ClubEG Slammer Tour Tour Championship match play.

With the dog days of summer upon us I managed to play three great Ottawa area/Western Quebec courses in Montebello, Le Sorcier and Carleton, followed by a few rounds out east in PEI at Brudenelle and Crowbush Cove.

I wrapped up August by winning the club championships at Metcalfe.

In September I played another Quebec course, this time St.Cesair with my father in law.

I also played in the OVGA Tournament of Champions at GreyHawk, before finishing out my season with a thanksgiving round at Pine Knot Golf & Country Course.

From a stats standpoint, my year in a nutshell:

  • Rounds = 35
  • High Score = 87 at Crowbush
  • Low Round = 73 at eQuinelle
  • Scoring Average = 80
  • Handicap Factor = 5.2

I didn’t have much in terms of goals going into the year, so coming away with a 3rd place finish at the Flagatick Open and a Club Championship, while adding 11 new courses to my played list counts as a pretty good year.

Looking forward to what 2017 will bring

See you at the turn,

Brewcee
