Christmas Wish List

Like most things this fall, circumstances has lead to me doing this a couple weeks later than I would have liked to, non the less, here is my Christmas wish list for 2013.

2013 was a relatively good year for me in the golf equipment acquisition department. It saw me acquire a new driver (not by choice), a range finder, a new golf bag and a whole lot of clothes in the last off season. To say the least, golf stuff is just about the last thing I need With that said, can you really ever have enough golf stuff? Lets get this list started

Fairway Wood

I really loved my Nike VR Pro 4 wood, but I broke it and replaced it with a very old, very used, very inexpensive TaylorMade 200 Steel 4 wood. Surprisingly, I like the TaylorMade and when I swing it right I can hit the ball well. Problem is the regular flex shaft is too inconsistent for me and when I am not thinking I easily over swing, hitting a beauty hook.

I am not 100% sure I want to stick with the 4 wood. I switched to it because I generally hit a 3 wood crappy off the deck and a 5 wood too high off the tee. However, I might want to give the 3 wood a second look. Based on my experience with the TaylorMade RocketBallz Stage 2 driver, I would be interested in adding a TaylorMade Rocketballz Stage 2 fairway wood into the bag.

Hybrid

I hit my 5 iron (27 degree) about 170 yards. I hit my 4 hybrid (24 degree) 200. The 30 yard gap is killing me. I sometimes carry a 4 iron (24 degree), which I hit 180, still leaving me a 20 yard gap. I have a stiff flex shaft in the hybrid and regular flex in the 5 iron, which is likely contributing to the issue, but I would like to see how a 26 degree 5 hybrid would work in my bag.

The problem here is I can’t find a company that makes a men’s 26 degree hybrid with a stiff flex shaft. Solution, more new golf clubs. Plan would be to bring the Nike 4 (24 degree) out of the bag and replace with the TaylorMade Rocketballz 5 (25 degree) and 6 (28 degree) hybrids.  I am need of clubs that I can hit between 170 and 200 more so than clubs that go 200 plus.

Push Cart

I like to walk and carry, but my feet don’t. If I play 3 times in a week, I can usually carry once with no issue, but if I was to carry 2 days in a row my feet would not be pleased. I have found a push cart has helped my feet considerably.

For the past 2 seasons I have been using a  cheaper push cart from Canadian Tire, and it is starting to break down. I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on something a little higher end.

I don’t necessarily have a preference here, mainly because I am not even sure what is out there on the market these days.

Technology

I love golf, and I love technology. I am always eager to blend the two, whether it be tracking scores and states on my Iphone or picking up distances with my Bushnell range finder.

Swing Analyzer

I don’t love to practice, but I think bring a little technology into the practice environment may help my motivation. I would really like to get my hands on the Swingbyte 2. As someone eager to understand my golf swing, I think this piece of technology would be a great addition to my bag.

 

 

 

Video Recorder

While not a specific “golf” item, I have often had the thought of recording an entire round of golf, and then speeding up the play back for posting on YouTube or the like. I also I think this would be a valuable practice tool.

In terms of recording sport on the go, GoPro is by far the industry leader, but others are starting to develop similar products to compete.
